π¬ Hollywood Studios Rope Drop Strategy
The MOST Critical Park for Rope Drop Success
Hollywood Studios has the HIGHEST demand-to-capacity ratio of all Disney World parks. Rope drop execution here can make or break your visit. A single mistake means 60+ minute waits for headliners all day.
- Park opens: Usually 8:00 AM (8:30 AM some seasons)
- Most crowded park: Takes longest for waits to become unbearable
- Boarding group system: Rise of the Resistance uses boarding groups (when it's operational)
- The heaviest hitters: Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, Tower of Terror, Millennium Falcon
- Best strategy: Hit 4 headliners in first 90 minutes, then use Lightning Lane + boarding groups for afternoon
β Strategy A: Star Wars Focus (Highest Demand)
Pre-Rope Drop Positioning (7:30 AM)
THE CRITICAL DETAIL: Rise of the Resistance Boarding Groups
Here's what happens:
- π± At 8:00 AM (rope drop), open My Disney Experience and join the boarding group
- β You'll get assigned a group number (e.g., "Group 47")
- β° You'll receive a notification when your group is called (could be 2-4 hours later)
- π― In the meantime, do other rides. You're NOT wasting time
- π When called, you have 60 minutes to ride
- β If Rise is broken (it breaks often), the system resets and you can try again later
