Event Overview

Magic Kingdom Castle lit up for Halloween

Enchanted Evening

What is the Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separately ticketed special event held at Magic Kingdom during select nights from mid-August through October 31, 2026. This isn't your typical park day—it's a magical evening celebrating Halloween with exclusive entertainment, rare character meets, and family-friendly spooky fun.

Event Basics

  • Hours: 7:00 PM – Midnight (doors open at 4:00 PM with party ticket!)
  • Location: Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World
  • Ticket Type: Separately ticketed event (not included with regular park admission)
  • Operating Nights: Select nights August–October 31, 2026

Ticket Pricing

Prices vary based on demand and date:

  • $109-$129 Early season (mid-August to early September)
  • $139-$169 Mid-season (September to early October)
  • $179-$199 Peak season (October, excluding Oct 31)
  • $199+ October 31 (most expensive night!)

Why It's Worth Every Dollar

  • Lower Crowds: After 7 PM, regular park guests clear out, leaving shorter lines for attractions
  • Early Entry: Arrive at 4 PM with your party ticket and enjoy 3 hours before the party officially starts!
  • Exclusive Entertainment: Shows and entertainment only happen during party hours
  • Rare Character Meets: Meet villains, popular characters, and exclusive character versions not seen any other time
  • Trick-or-Treating: THE biggest draw—free candy throughout the park!
  • Unique Atmosphere: Special lighting, decorations, and magical energy you won't find anywhere else

Party Wristband & Check-In

When you arrive at 4 PM with your party ticket, visit the designated wristband pickup location (usually in Adventureland or Town Square Theater) to collect your special wristband. This wristband grants you access to exclusive areas, entertainment, and character meet locations during the party hours. Keep it on for the entire evening!

Trick-or-Treating — The Ultimate Candy Experience

This is THE main event. Families attend the Not-So-Scary Halloween Party primarily for trick-or-treating. Unlike typical Halloween where you visit 20-30 houses, at this party you can hit numerous candy stations and walk away with multiple pillowcases full of candy.

How Much Candy Will You Get?

Guests report collecting 200+ pieces of candy in a single night. Each station hands out 1-5 pieces per visit, and there are stations throughout the entire park. Pro tip: Bring a large pillowcase or tote bag—a regular trick-or-treat bucket will not be enough!

Trick-or-Treat Trail Locations

Frontierland

Hit this land first! Most families flock to Main Street and Fantasyland. Frontierland is less crowded early in the evening, making it an ideal starting point.

  • Tiana's Bayou Adventure area
  • Big Thunder Ranch
  • Tom Sawyer Island approaches

Adventureland

Great for mid-evening visits with moderate crowds. Excellent candy variety.

  • Swiss Family Treehouse area
  • Jungle Cruise queue
  • Aloha Isle vicinity

Liberty Square

Atmospheric and moody—perfect for Halloween vibes. Usually moderate crowds.

  • Haunted Mansion surroundings
  • Bridge approaches
  • Riverboat landing

Fantasyland

Always busy, but worth it. Go late (after 10 PM) for shorter lines.

  • Castle Courtyard
  • Enchanted Forest areas
  • Prince Charming Regal Carrousel vicinity

Main Street, USA

Classic location with tons of stations. Most crowded—visit in off-peak hours.

  • Center Street area
  • Town Square
  • Cinderella Castle forecourt

Tomorrowland

Often overlooked! Great for avoiding crowds and still getting plenty of candy.

  • Space Mountain courtyard
  • Buzz Lightyear area
  • Astro Orbiter vicinity
Pumpkins and Halloween decorations

Spooky Seasonal Decor

Allergy-Friendly Trick-or-Treating

Teal Pumpkin Project

Disney participates in the Teal Pumpkin Project! Look for blue/teal colored pumpkin markers at certain trick-or-treat stations. These stations offer allergy-friendly alternatives to traditional candy, including:

  • Non-food items (stickers, toys, pencils)
  • Nut-free candies
  • Gluten-free options
  • Allergen-labeled candy

If your child has allergies, ask a Cast Member for locations of teal pumpkin stations before you begin trick-or-treating.

Pro Tips for Maximum Candy Success

  • Start in Frontierland at 7:15 PM (right after party opens)—you'll beat the crowds to the best stations
  • Bring a large pillowcase or canvas tote—regular buckets hold maybe 50-75 pieces before getting full
  • Divide and conquer: If you're with family, split up and cover more ground (meet at a specific spot at specific times)
  • Hit less popular areas first—Tomorrowland and Liberty Square are sweet spots (pun intended)
  • Visit Main Street last—it's most crowded 8-10 PM but empties out after 10:30 PM
  • Check for duplicate stations—some areas have multiple candy handout points, so don't skip them
  • Stay until close—final 30 minutes (11:30 PM-midnight) have minimal crowds

Exclusive Entertainment

The Not-So-Scary Halloween Party features world-class entertainment that happens only during party hours. These are not regular Magic Kingdom shows—they're created specifically for this event.

🎭 Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular

MUST-SEE. This castle stage show is the crown jewel of the party. The Sanderson Sisters (from Hocus Pocus) perform an elaborate, stunning production with special effects, pyrotechnics, and incredible costumes.

Show Times: Usually 8:30 PM, 10:00 PM, 11:15 PM

Duration: ~15 minutes

Viewing Spots: Cinderella Castle Forecourt (arrive 20-30 min early for good spots), or watch from Main Street or Fantasyland areas

Pro Tip: Arrive 45 minutes early for the first showing at 8:30 PM to secure a front-row viewing spot!

🎪 Boo-To-You Halloween Parade

A spooky, fun parade featuring Halloween-themed floats, character appearances, and magical moments. Two showings to reduce crowding.

Show Times: Usually 9:00 PM & 11:30 PM

Duration: ~20 minutes

Best Viewing: Main Street, USA (arrives from Town Square)

Pro Tip: The 11:30 PM parade has a fraction of the crowd. Stand on the parade route around 11:10 PM and you'll have premium seating!

✨ Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular

A magical fireworks display featuring Halloween-themed projections, music, and effects. Smaller and more intimate than regular park fireworks, but absolutely stunning.

Show Time: Usually 11:45 PM (final show of the night)

Duration: ~10 minutes

Best Viewing: Hub area near Cinderella Castle or anywhere on Main Street

🎵 The Cadaver Dans

A spooky barbershop quartet performing on boats in the Rivers of America. Hilarious, Halloween-themed performances with punny songs.

Performances: Multiple times throughout the night

Locations: Liberty Square dock areas, viewable from bridges and pathways

Full Entertainment Schedule Pro Tips

  • Ask Cast Members for a detailed schedule when you arrive at 4 PM

Exclusive Ride Overlays & Experiences

Several attractions receive special Halloween overlays, enhancements, and experiences that only occur during the party hours.

🚀 Space Mountain — Lights Off

Space Mountain is transformed with the interior lights completely off, creating an incredibly dark and immersive experience. A haunting Halloween soundtrack replaces the normal futuristic score.

Effect: Creates a much scarier, more intense ride experience

Wait Times: 15-30 minutes (normally 45-60+ min)

🏴‍☠️ Pirates of the Caribbean — Live Actors

Live costumed characters are added throughout the attraction, creating interactive scares and surprises around each turn.

Effect: Transforms the classic dark ride into a haunted experience

🫖 Mad Tea Party — Spooky Lighting

The spinning teacup ride receives eerie purple and green lighting effects, creating a more Halloween-themed atmosphere.

😂 Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor — Halloween Comedy

The interactive comedy show features special Halloween-themed jokes and props, with the audience-reactive monster characters delivering spooky punchlines.

Overlay Strategy

Take advantage of these overlays during your 4-7 PM early entry time! Ride Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean before the 7 PM party officially starts, then you can focus on entertainment, characters, and trick-or-treating during the main party hours. These rides are still available during party hours, but the early entry gives you a head start with shorter waits.

Perfect Night for Costumes

Disney's Costume Rules

Disney allows guests of all ages to wear costumes during the Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. However, there are important rules:

  • No full-face masks for adults — You must be able to see your face. Eyes, nose, and mouth must be visible. Partial masks (half-masks, eye masks) are okay
  • Kids under 14: Full-face masks are allowed
  • No weapons: Real or realistic-looking weapons are prohibited. This includes realistic guns, swords, knives, and bows
  • No offensive costumes: Avoid anything that Disney deems inappropriate, offensive, or scary (full zombie makeup might be asked to tone down)
  • Disney character costumes are encouraged! Many guests wear official Disney character outfits

Best Costumes for Florida Heat

✅ Go-To Options

  • Lightweight Disney character dress: Simple, themed, comfortable
  • Black outfit + minimal accessories: Witch, villain, or spooky vibes
  • Mask + casual clothing: Add a Halloween mask to regular clothes for ease
  • Face paint + normal clothes: Create a spooky look without heavy costume pieces
  • Quick-add accessories: Cape, hat, gloves—big impact, minimal heat

❌ Avoid These

  • Heavy, bulky costumes (tulle ball gowns, giant props)
  • Thick makeup that will run in humidity
  • Wigs (unless essential—they trap heat)
  • Closed-toe costumes if you need to walk all night
  • Anything restricting movement (rides can be uncomfortable)

Family Costume Ideas

👻 Classic Disney Villains

Maleficent, Ursula, Queen of Hearts, Cruella, Evil Queen — instantly recognizable and easy to create with basic clothing + accessories

Costume Tips for Rides

  • Secure loose pieces: Attach capes, hats, and accessories securely so they don't fly off on rides
  • Consider pockets: You'll need to carry your park ticket, phone, and candy throughout the night
  • Comfortable shoes are ESSENTIAL: You'll be walking 4-5+ hours. Sneakers or comfortable flats are your friend
  • Avoid long trains: Long skirts or capes can drag on ride seats and floors
  • Test your costume: Practice sitting in a theater seat or car seat to ensure you fit in ride vehicles comfortably
