Magic Kingdom's newest thrill — a high-speed motorcycle-style coaster set in the TRON universe. Launched out of a 0-59 mph rocket start, all in under two minutes.
TRON Lightcycle / Run opened in April 2023 as Magic Kingdom's first major new coaster in over a decade. It's a clone of the original TRON coaster at Shanghai Disneyland, which opened in 2016. The ride is a launched steel coaster — 0-59 mph in seconds, 1,437 feet of track, one major loop and several banked turns. Theming is set inside the digital world of the TRON franchise: neon lights, grid patterns, programming-language visuals.
You must be at least 48″ (122cm) to ride TRON Lightcycle / Run.
Rider Switch (child swap) is available for parties with kids under the height requirement. If your child is close to the line, the cast member at the queue entrance will measure them against the post.
You straddle a "lightcycle" (motorcycle-style vehicle), lean forward into the bars, and wait for the launch. Seconds later you're at 59 mph. The coaster has one significant inversion-adjacent moment (a high-banked turn) but no full loops. Most of the ride is outdoors at first, then indoors for a theatrical finale.
The thrill is in the launch and the visual intensity. At ~2 minutes, it's over quickly. Some riders describe it as underwhelmingly short; others love the punchy, high-energy format.
TRON uses Individual Lightning Lane — you pay per person, per ride. Pricing fluctuates between $18 and $25 depending on crowd levels. Alternatively, a free virtual queue opens at 7am and 1pm each day — those slots fill in seconds.
If you want the virtual queue, have My Disney Experience open at 6:59am, refresh at 7:00:00, and tap "Join Virtual Queue" the instant TRON appears. If you miss the morning, try again at 1pm.

TRON is one of the few attractions where "rope drop" and "Individual LL" are roughly equivalent strategies. Rope-drop standby gets you on with a 25-40 minute wait if you're among the first 500 guests in the park. Individual LL gets you on at a time of your choosing but costs money.
The virtual queue is the free, equitable option — but it requires being online at 7am sharp with zero tolerance for hesitation.
Fast, intense, and visually striking. The launch alone is worth the visit.
The ride system (launched steel coaster) is smooth, modern, and well-executed. Better track quality than Space Mountain.
Strict height enforcement. Don't queue if you're not sure — the height-check sign is at the entrance.
The lean-forward motorcycle position puts pressure on the lower back. If you have chronic pain, take the alternative seat or skip.
Ask about the "accessible vehicle." If you can't straddle the bike, TRON has alternative seats where you sit upright. Request at the load platform — don't wait until you're already at your lightcycle.
Go for the virtual queue at 7am. It's free and it often works. Have your party's tickets pre-linked to My Disney Experience before drop-time.
Ride in the early evening. TRON looks especially striking after dark. The outdoor section of the track is visible from Space Mountain's entry — TRON at night, lit up, is a Magic Kingdom signature.
Skip it on a rainy day. Part of the ride is outdoors. Heavy rain closes it. Light rain continues but you get wet on the outdoor track.
