The Princess and the Frog re-themed flume ride that opened in 2024 on the bones of Splash Mountain. The big drop is still there. The Brer Rabbit story is gone โ replaced with Tiana, Louis, and a Mardi Gras finale.
Tiana's Bayou Adventure opened in June 2024, replacing Splash Mountain on the same track and ride system. The new theme picks up after the events of The Princess and the Frog โ Tiana is hosting a Mardi Gras celebration in the bayou and you're along for the journey. The retheming kept the entire ride structure, the lift hills, the climactic 5-story drop, and the loading station โ but replaced every animatronic, every scene, and the soundtrack.
You must be at least 40โณ (102cm) to ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
Rider Switch (child swap) is available for parties with kids under the height requirement. If your child is close to the line, the cast member at the queue entrance will measure them against the post.
You board a hollowed-log flume vehicle at the bayou-themed station. The ride drifts through Tiana's bayou, with new animatronics of Louis the alligator, Mama Odie, and the Bayou Big Band of musical critters. There are two small lift hills before the climactic drop โ a 5-story plunge into the bayou below.
The drop is identical in scale to the original Splash Mountain โ 52 feet at a 45-degree angle, with a guaranteed splash. Front-row riders get drenched; back-row riders get sprinkled. The post-drop finale is a Mardi Gras parade tableau, with energetic music and animatronic dancing instruments.
Tiana's Bayou Adventure is among the top-3 most competitive Lightning Lane bookings at Magic Kingdom (alongside Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan's Flight). Same-day return times on busy days are gone within 30 minutes of 7am for resort guests.
If you can't get LL: rope drop is your best alternative. Walk straight to Frontierland the moment the park opens. Arriving by 9:10am usually lets you ride with under a 20-minute wait.
Average standby wait by season (observed over 2024-2025 data):
| Season | Morning | Midday | Evening |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low season | 30 min | 55 min | 40 min |
| Moderate | 50 min | 80 min | 65 min |
| High season | 70 min | 110 min | 85 min |
| Holiday peaks | 90 min | 140+ min | 100 min |
Florida weather plays a role here. The drop is drier in the morning when the bayou hasn't been splashed all day, and warmer in the afternoon when you might actually want to get wet. Most guests prefer to ride before lunch (drier feet for the rest of the day) or as the very last ride of the day (you're heading back to the resort to change anyway).
If you don't want to get wet at all, you'll probably skip this one โ the front 4 rows are guaranteed soaked.
The re-theming integrates the movie's characters and music more fully than the original 1989 ride did with Song of the South.
If your kid is 40"+ and OK with the drop on Splash Mountain, they're OK with this one. The drop is mechanically identical.
The intentional drenching is a feature, not a bug, when it's 95ยฐF. Great mid-afternoon cool-down.
The 5-story plunge is the centerpiece of the ride. There's no skipping it. If your child won't tolerate Splash Mountain's drop, they won't tolerate this.
Bring or buy a poncho. Park ponchos are $15. Pack one from home for $1. The drop will leave at least the front half of the boat wet.
Phone in a waterproof bag. Don't put your phone in your pocket and hope. The splash is real. Use a Disney app pouch or a Ziploc bag.
Sit in the back if you don't want to be soaked. Back row gets light spray from the wake. Front 2-3 rows are guaranteed drenched.
The on-ride photo captures the drop. Standard Memory Maker captures the moment. If you have Memory Maker, you'll get the splash photo automatically.
