Disney's only indoor inversion coaster. Launches 0-57 mph in 2.8 seconds, then runs through three inversions in near-darkness with an Aerosmith soundtrack piped through speakers in each headrest.
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster opened at Disney-MGM Studios in 1999 and remains Disney World's most intense roller coaster โ and the only one with inversions. The premise: you're a guest at an Aerosmith recording session, and the band needs to get to a concert across Hollywood. You're loaded into a stretch limo (the ride vehicle) that launches out of the studio and through Hollywood traffic at high speed. Note: Rock 'n' Roller Coaster has been periodically closed for refurbishment in recent years. Check the My Disney Experience app or Disney's website for current operating status before planning your visit. When operating, it remains a top Hollywood Studios priority.
You must be at least 48โณ (122cm) to ride Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.
Rider Switch (child swap) is available for parties with kids under the height requirement. If your child is close to the line, the cast member at the queue entrance will measure them against the post.
The pre-show is set in a recording studio. Aerosmith's Steven Tyler delivers a brief filmed message about the band needing to get to their show, and a producer ushers you out a back door to a waiting stretch limo.
The limo launches from a dead stop to 57 mph in 2.8 seconds. Within the first 5 seconds you're upside down for the first time. The ride then runs through a series of high-speed turns, banked drops, and two corkscrew inversions, all in near-darkness with neon Hollywood signage (Carl's Jr., Hollywood Boulevard street signs, etc.) flashing past.
The whole thing is over in roughly 90 seconds. The intensity is sustained โ there's no slow lift hill or pause. From launch to stop, you're moving fast.
When operating: Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is a high-priority Lightning Lane Multi Pass pick. Standby waits run 50-90 minutes during peak hours.
If the ride is in refurbishment: there is no LL alternative โ no other comparable coaster experience at Hollywood Studios. Plan your day around what's available, and check status the morning of your visit.

Disney's most intense coaster experience. Three inversions, a high-G launch, and an excellent soundtrack.
The 5 songs in rotation are core Aerosmith tracks. Hearing them through individual headrest speakers at 57 mph is its own experience.
Three inversions โ most riders feel them clearly. If you don't like upside-down coasters, you don't like this one.
High G-forces. Disney lists multiple physical conditions that should not ride.
Check operating status the morning of. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster has had extended closures. Verify it's running before you plan your day around it.
Sit in the back car. The back gets the strongest launch sensation and the most aggressive whip through the inversions.
Headrest speakers are real. You'll hear the music through speakers built into each headrest. Loud but well-mixed.
Don't ride right after eating. The launch is sudden and the entire ride is intense. Most riders prefer a 60-90 minute gap after a meal.
